About this deal

In Hellraiser, hedonist Frank Cotton (Sean Chapman) thinks he has reached the limits of earthly pleasure. There’s no doubt that the Hellraiser franchise has been diluted somewhat by a sea of inferior sequels and the loss of just about everyone associated with its beginnings in the intervening years. Director Tony Randel papers over the script issues with a dark and twisted fantasy mindset to give this film its own identity, yet at the same time, he injects a playful sensibility to it, making it the best blend of horror, fantasy and fun of all the films in the franchise. challenge of Arrow having authored or titled things differently for this release, I may have missed something.

The plot of Hellbound is so bizarre that anymore explanation would not only be spoiling things, but to be honest, quite difficult to pin down….Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. Movie: The gates of Hell are thrown open by this 4K boxset dedicated to Clive Barker's Hellraiser mythos. However, there is something that can’t help but resonate with the public’s consciousness about the film’s antagonists and what they stand for – at once terrifyingly evil and wholly unknowable, yet rooted in what it means to be human, their being angels to some and devils to others is a notion we seem unable to shake.

No nasties were noted resulting from a less than stellar encode and it looks to be another bang-up job of getting the film onto the disc and retaining as much of the good work of the underlying restoration, which also seems to have completely eradicated that low-level judder than could be seen across the films on the previous release, as possible. K. But fear not, horror fans as 4K Blu-ray discs are region-free, so those who live in North America and still want to obtain a copy can get around that easily enough. The film was a smash hit at the box office, making fifteen times its budget, and went on to garner even more fans on home video. Neil became a horror fan from just a nightmare-inducing glimpse of the Ghoulies VHS cover and a book on how to draw ghosts. Far more than the sum of its parts, it opened up a landscape of twisted sexual fantasy intertwined with equally perverse physical torture; it parlayed a prosthetic-driven creature feature into the midst of a very suburban melodrama; and it delivered a sense of the dreamily uncanny, of the off-kilter shot through impossible environments (is it set in the UK?Then, Hellraiser: Bloodline sinks its hooks into past, present and future with the story of Phillip LeMarchand, the 18th-century toymaker who made the lament configuration puzzle box, his descendent John Merchant – a 20th-century architect whose most recent building bears a striking resemblance to the lament configuration – and Dr. We will introduce you exclusively to Newpay finance products provided by NewDay Limited under this Introducer Appointed Representative arrangement. There were always a lot of filtered shots used across the three films – more so in the second film – that meant this sharpness is not uniform, but neither should it, this softness inherent to the source material and at least here there’s been no attempts to try and balance this across the picture.

If you missed the 4K Restoration on the big screen then never fear a special box set from Arrow Films and it is a must-have for any Horror Blu-ray collector.

As a US contributor to Digital Spy, Justin has also been on the ground to cover major pop culture events like the Star Wars Celebration and the D23 Expo. Bloodline’s workprint isn’t the mythical first cut of Kevin Yagher unfortunately and doesn’t really do that much different from the theatrical cut (running the same duration almost) but it’s a really nice get for the set. There are some really tricky elements of these films to try and deal with in a 4K restoration, yet Arrow and their team have done a really fantastic job of providing a set of discs that improve over their previous restorations in every way possible. Normally the films we review here at 60MW are check discs, plain discs with none of the ‘extras’ such as the book included with this set.

is revisiting the Hellraiser franchise just a few years after it brought out the rather extravagantly packaged Hellraiser: The Scarlet Box. Watching it again for review I have to say that Hellraiser 3 hasn’t aged as badly as I was expecting, and I acknowledge its strengths and weaknesses.Narrative contrivances abound, but with Julia bursting forth from her bloodbound prison, all begins to be forgiven. And even the fact it starts and ends in space – the butt of every franchise gag in the last thirty years started here methinks – even works well with the final reveal of the Elysium Configuration in all its glory. Don’t get me wrong, it’s kind of fun to see them walking through the streets causing mayhem, but they are very much from the 90’s. It looks much more film-like, is even and banishes the slightly splotchy rendering it had on the previous 1080p releases…and has the knock-on effect of rendering fine detail with that extra little bit of clarity. Behind the Scenes* features some recently discovered extended archival videos, presented here for the first time.
