About this deal

It only added to the immaturity I felt from Isolde, but from Adrian, it was a little harder to explain considering how old he is. Authors often struggle with this line and this simple mistake can make me go from loving a character to absolutely hating her. So to wrap up, this is not the kind of book everyone might enjoy for the above stated level of sexual content, but it is also a story full of mythical monsters, vampires who may not be the villains they seem, ancient curses and mysteries, as well as a solid cast of side characters that prop up a main duo that has awesome potential to become the power couple to rule them all, especially in the sequel coming out this December. They hate each other, but they have an insta-love relationship and there are so many things that start and are never fleshed out. Besides the threats on Isolde’s life, it was your usual court politics, but not very detailed or developed.

Isolde is a 26 years old grown-up who is set to be a queen mind you — but acted merely off her assumptions and emotions.Clair weaves a captivating narrative, combining elements of romance, adventure, and fantasy to create a mesmerizing series that will leave readers eagerly turning the pages. I was wavering on what to rate it and had initially gone with 4 stars, but after more thought I am going with 3 stars because what I see in this book is some of the same mistakes I felt Scarlett St. The plot really doesn't start moving until the last 50 pages when all of the action actually happens.

Amidst the chaos, he encounters Isolde, a fierce and enigmatic woman with mysterious powers that she doesn't fully comprehend. I didn't hate the heroine which was a surprise bcz i usually hate NA heroines bcz they're all like "oh ik everything ill kill everyone" but actually never does it. But Isolde goes from hating Adrian with a passion (supposedly) to sitting on his face in a matter of hours, and from being disgusted by the notion of letting him drink her blood to but will I like it, though?I’ve been seeing it on Bookstagram non-stop lately and the premise sounded so interesting to me that I decided to pick it up. If you like enemies to lovers, the arranged marriage trope, insta-sexual attraction, a feisty dagger-wielding female MC, and vampires/witches/gods, then you’ll probably enjoy this book. But hey, at least I could read it in a satirical way, and that was the only thing giving me the strength to finish. There’s a twist in the novel that I just went WILD over, and man did it wrench my heartstrings in the best way.

ADRIAN WAS SURPRISINGLY not as alpha as I thought he would be, which actually made me like him more. This is not intended to be a full statement of all your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations. I’d seen a few reviews of this before I picked it up and from those reviews, I was already half-convinced that I would love this and well, I wasn’t wrong! However I must say this, the author toes the line of gratuitous smut overshadowing the plot, and she does it pretty well, remembering that she does actually have a story to tell and not getting completely carried away with the erotica bits of her novel (there would be nothing wrong with that per se, it just wouldn’t be my thing). In my opinion (pls don’t attack me lol), the only plot in this entire novel revolved around how horny the two main characters could get. After a failed assassination attempt, Isolde is informed that if she tries to kill him again, he’ll turn her into the very undead that she despises.
