About this deal

There are a handful of ways you could do this. I decided that instead of drilling a hole for another waste pipe, I linked my washing machine hose to the sink.

Look for leaks. Wait for about 10 minutes looking for leaks from underneath the sink The level of water in the sink should not go down. The only thing that worked, was putting pressure against the plug with my fingers, while the sink filled up. When the sink was ¾ full, I could release my fingers and the plug would seal. I didn’t want to have to do this every time I filled the sink though. However, it's vital that you use a jubilee clip and screw it tight with a screwdriver. This ensures it doesn't come off. Here's a step by step guide on how I fitted the kitchen sink waste pipe and trap in my utility. It also includes a trap connected to a washing machine hose.

Clean the area. Avoid exposing the surface to water. Spray a cloth or paper towel with household cleaner and clean the area. Wipe dry. Then clean again with bleach, before rinsing and leaving to dry. Note, don't rush this as you don't want to accidentally slip and scratch or dint your sink. Installing the Overflow Pipe for the Kitchen Sink Waste Naturally, any sealant you use for sealing bathroom sinks or kitchen sinks must be waterproof and mould resistant. UniBond sanitary sealants are specially designed for use in the kitchen and bathroom; they create strong, flexible seals and offer long-term protection from mould.Scoop a generous amount of plumber’s putty and roll it between the palm of your hands into a long-pencil sized bead. I recently cut a hole in my utility kitchen worktop as part of my latest YouTube series. However, after plumbing up my new tap, I then needed to learn how to install the kitchen sink waste and trap. The P-trap also traps potential drain clogs. This prevents them from clogging up the drainpipe farther away where unclogging it would be harder.

With the pivot rod out of the way, you will only need to lift off the stopper from the top of the sink. The reason you need to disconnect the P-trap is that it is always a good time to clean it as well. This is especially important if your sink is draining slowly as well. You can as well omit this step. This means my washing machine waste and sink waste are hooked up and drain in the same place. Or, you could bore another hole through the wall, which I didn't want to do. How to Attach The Kitchen Sink Waste
