About this deal

Grayson: Level of annoyingness 8/10 Grayson is also either brother numero dos or tres. He doesn’t really do much throughout the entire book. He’s just… kinda there? Still, he was annoying. He was annoying at the beginning and got even more annoying as the book progressed. HOW OLD IS AVERY? are we ever gonna ask that? because she's interacting romantically with adult men as a minor? just wondering hehe the young adult threshold for personality is in HELL. all you need to do is give your teenage main character a vaguely tragic past, enough stubbornness to allow her to mildly bump heads with love interests every once in a while, a weakness for hot emotionally unavailable rich boys, and a best friend of color to carry things (for flavor). soooo we’re gonna just break my traditional review structure and just mash everything together because 1) I can’t say a lot without serious spoilers (i’m literally not joking there is so much mystery and drama that MUST NOT be spoiled) and 2) I have no self control when it comes to my dark, cold, businesslike Grayson Hawthorne 😍 Also shoutout to Oren and Alisa for all the damage control and protecting they had to do for Avery when she screwed up a lot. They definitely deserve a raise in pay. altho they most likely get a lot anways lol

Grayson Hawthorne was arrogant enough to consider himself bulletproof—and honorable enough to see a promise through to its end.” ~ 😏😏 Omg I had such a fun time rereading this!! 💙💙 This was my favorite the first time round and after rereading it, I definitely understand why 🤩🤩 There are SO many good scenes in here- THE INTERVIEW SCENE 🤭🤭- and the mystery is just so entertaining ✨ The Grayson content in this book tho >>>>> Secondly, the writing. Ahhhh, it’s so good. JLB’s writing is SO fun and easy to read and it just makes you want to devour the book in one sitting. Imo there was definitely an improvement in her writing from TIG, and I’ve just grown to love it sm. If you need an author whose writing is super fun and will help you fly through books, then I would definitely recommend JLB’s work!! 😁😁💕💕 Otherwise, I was rolling my eyes everytime he appeared. The kiss scene was really weird and awkward to me. Also, very disappointing. Jameson wasn't really thinking in Avery when he kissed her AFTER ALMOST BEING SHOT (I say almost because the Drake missed it and hit the tree). No, my dude over here was thinking about the mystery and possibly on Emily. He became grumpy towards the end just to give Grayson the space and chance to make his move with Avery. i’m gonna skip on telling you guys about the plot because the only thing i knew about this book was that there’s a love triangle and that’s only a subplot. plus it’s way more fun going into a mystery book, blind! the writing tho!? yes. very good…i will complain about one small thing later which i’m sure the majority of you already know. other than that small thing…the writing was amazing. the plot is filled with mystery, riddles, puzzles, and games. it will have you thinking, but it’s overall super easy to follow and super fun to read<3

ah, this feeling... so satisfying. But anyways, I had it from the beginning but throughout the book I kept changing because everyone was acting so sus. smh I still don't know who to trust!! what is this sorcery??

In the last scene, Avery and Jameson are together on a rooftop. Avery kisses him, letting him know she has chosen him to love. I didn’t see that coming. But I had no idea what I was even supposed to see coming. It really wasn’t that surprising. Dull, like the rest of the book. CAN YOU GUYS UNDERSTAND WHY I’M HAVING A HARD TIME CHOOSING!? i wanted to add a second jameson and avery scene, but i’ll let y’all read that for yourselves😉also when jameson and grayson would call avery by her first name…why did that have me screaming😭😂Firstly, the characters. This book was from the point of view of Avery Grambs, a teenage girl who suddenly inherited an enormous fortune from billionaire Tobias Hawthorne, a guy she'd never met. His will said that, for her to get the money, she had to move into Hawthorne House, the sprawling, mystery-filled home of the wealthy Hawthorne family. Once she's moved in, she teams up with the handsome grandsons of Tobias Hawthorne to solve the mystery of why she inherited that money. If you haven't read the book and want to, but don't want any spoilers, please don't read any further. It seems like I can't restrain myself when it comes to write a review without any single spoiler. I'm sorry, I didn't ask for this, lmao.
